OAE (Otoacoustic Emissions Test)

The Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) Test evaluates the function of the cochlea (inner ear) by measuring sound vibrations emitted from the hair cells in response to external stimuli. It is particularly useful for newborn hearing screening and young children who cannot actively respond to traditional hearing tests. OAE is painless, quick, and provides reliable results to detect hearing loss at an early stage. If the test shows no response, it may indicate hearing impairment or damage to the inner ear. This test helps in the early diagnosis and management of hearing loss, ensuring timely intervention and care.

PTA (Pure Tone Audiometry)

Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) is a standard test that assesses hearing sensitivity across different frequencies. It measures the quietest sounds a person can hear at various pitches, determining the type and degree of hearing loss – whether conductive, sensorineural, or mixed. The test is conducted in a soundproof environment using headphones and a machine that emits sound at different frequencies. The results are plotted on an audiogram that helps audiologists create a personalized hearing plan. PTA is essential in diagnosing hearing loss and guiding the selection of the most suitable hearing aids or treatment.

BERA/ASSR (Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry)

Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA) and Auditory Steady-State Response (ASSR) are advanced tests that measure neural responses to sound stimuli by recording brainwave activity. These tests are used to diagnose hearing issues in infants, young children, and individuals who cannot participate in traditional audiometry. BERA helps detect hearing nerve abnormalities and can identify hearing loss of varying degrees, while ASSR provides a detailed assessment of hearing thresholds across different frequencies. These tests ensure accurate diagnosis and intervention for individuals with complex hearing challenges.

Tympanometry & Reflexometry

Tympanometry evaluates middle ear function by measuring how the eardrum responds to air pressure changes. It helps detect fluid buildup, ear infections, blockages, and eardrum perforations. Reflexometry measures the acoustic reflex, which is an involuntary muscle contraction in response to loud sounds, aiding in diagnosing issues with the auditory nerve and brainstem. Together, these tests provide a comprehensive assessment of middle ear health and are essential in diagnosing conditions that may impact hearing and balance.

Hearing Aid Trial & Fitting

We offer customized hearing aid trials that allow patients to experience different hearing aid models before making a decision. During the trial, our audiologists assess the patient’s hearing needs, lifestyle, and preferences to recommend the most suitable device. Once a hearing aid is selected, precise fitting and tuning are performed to ensure maximum comfort and effectiveness. Regular follow-ups and adjustments are provided to ensure the hearing aids continue to meet the patient’s needs, enhancing their overall hearing experience.
